Glossia interprets conversations as they happen. The short version: we do not record or keep what you say, we do not ask for your contacts, and you can use the app without an account.

What is never kept

• Audio. Your voice is streamed for interpretation and discarded. It is not written to disk.
• Transcripts. The words of a conversation are held in memory while the conversation lasts, so the interpreter has context, and dropped when it ends. They are not written to our database or to our logs.
• Your address book. Glossia never requests access to Contacts. When you pick someone "from Contacts", iOS shows its own picker and hands the app only the one entry you tap.

What stays on your phone

• People you've talked to — the name and language you gave them, an optional note, and a phone number only if you typed or picked one. This list is stored on your device and is not uploaded.
• Message threads — kept on the two phones until 24 hours of silence, then removed. They are file-protected and excluded from device backups.
• Saved history, only if you switch it on in Settings. It is off by default and stays on the device.
• Dictation in a message thread uses on-device speech recognition only; if your phone cannot recognise a language by itself, Glossia does not offer dictation for it.

"Delete everything" in Settings erases all of the above from the phone.

What our server stores

• An anonymous device identifier (Apple's per-app vendor identifier), your plan, and how many minutes you have used this month. If you sign in with an email address, that address.
• A record of each session: the mode, the two languages, when it started and ended, its length, and the minutes charged. Never what was said.
• Invitations: the code, the language and first name you chose to show, and when it was used. They expire after ten minutes.
• Contacts between phones: when two people share a conversation, a link between their two devices, with the first names and languages each gave, so they can message each other later. No phone numbers.
• Messages in transit. A message waits on our server only until the recipient's phone confirms it has it — 24 hours at most — and is stored encrypted; the key is not in the database. It is then deleted.
• Your push-notification token, so we can tell you a message is waiting. Notifications say who wrote and how many messages are waiting — never the words.
• Subscription status from Apple, if you subscribe. We never see your payment details.
• Quality flags. If you flag a line as wrong, we store the reason, which models produced it and its timing. The text of that line is included only if you choose to include it for that flag.

Our logs record events, timings and character counts — not text, and not names.

Who processes your conversation

To interpret, audio and text pass through these providers, acting on our behalf, over encrypted connections: Deepgram (speech to text), OpenAI (translation) and Cartesia (spoken output). Apple delivers notifications and handles subscriptions. Our servers and database are hosted by DigitalOcean in the United States. If you place an interpreted phone call, a telephony carrier connects it. Each provider handles data under its own terms; we send them only what interpretation requires and no account identity.

We do not sell personal information, show advertising, or use your conversations to train models.

Security

Connections to Glossia use TLS. The database accepts connections only from our server, over a private network, with certificate verification. Messages in transit are encrypted at rest. No system is perfectly secure; please do not rely on Glossia alone for information whose exposure would cause serious harm.

Your choices

• Use Glossia without an account, and without notifications — both are optional.
• Remove a person, or use "Delete everything", at any time.
• Ask us to delete the server-side record of your device, or for a copy of it: [email protected]. Depending on where you live you may have further rights (access, correction, deletion, objection); we honour such requests wherever you are.

Children

Glossia is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
